Jeffrey Dungan’s creative work can be seen across the United States, recognized for his clean, modern approach to traditional vernaculars and classical architecture. A resonant Southern voice in the world of architecture, he approaches his work with the heart of a warrior poet. He brings passion, and endless enthusiasm to each project-enjoying the creative process, as well as the people he works with. His words and tone resonate with the same visceral emotions elicited by his architecture and interiors. Much like his work, the outside and inside merge into scenes of thoughtfulness, beauty and spirituality.
Jeffrey has been honored with numerous awards, from the American Institute of Architects, as well as the 2017 Southeast Architect of the Year by Veranda magazine and ADAC. In 2018 and 2019, he received the prestigious Palladio Award, the only national award for classical architecture. The Southeast Chapter of the Institute of Classical Architecture and Art named him a Shutze fellow in 2015, and the Rocky Mountain chapter awarded him the Jacques Benedict award in 2023. In 2024, Forbes magazine named him one of the top 200 architects in the United States.
Recognized for custom private residences and boutique public projects throughout North and Central America- his work has been featured in many books and magazines, such as Architectural Digest, The Wall Street Journal, Food & Wine, Forbes, and House Beautiful. Jeffrey’s first book, The Nature of Home, Creating Timeless Houses– was published in 2018, by Rizzoli International.

In his first book, published by Rizzoli, New York; Jeff gives a glimpse into the soul and spirit of his work and includes insights and advice for creating homes that are made to be handed down through generations. The book explores eight of these “forever houses” in full- from a white stuccoed beach house on the Gulf coast, to a rambling farmhouse in the deep South, to a stone “firehouse” high up in the Blue Ridge Mountains. Each home speaks to authenticity and the patina of history revealed through the natural textures of honest materials. Layered into the compilation are thematic narratives and imagery celebrating light, beauty, details and other elements used to create timeless houses.
